FROG Retrospective

This page is dedicated to models produced by the British plastic model manufacturer FROG. FROG can trace its beginnings to before WWII and remained in business until its demise in 1976. Even though the company ceased to exist, the models continued to be produced under many manufacturer labels in many different countries including the U.S.S.R, the U.S.A, the Czech Republic and Poland. Novo, Revell, Maquette, Tsukuda and Eastern Express were and are some of the labels they were subsequently sold under. The four Russian prototype aircraft released under the Red Star label were reportedly un-released FROG molded models. Also noteworthy was the fact that FROG kits were marketed under several foreign (to the UK) labels during the time that the company was still in business - AMT and Air Lines in the USA and Hasegawa in Japan.

Currently, Eastern Express sells by far the largest assortment of ex-FROG molded model kits today. In 2006 the molds are showing their age and are worn out in some cases while others manage to retain their youth.

Below, I present various FROG aircraft model kits that I have assembled over the years. Some are from original FROG kits while others are made from post-FROG releases. I have noted under each model the origin of the kit. I hope you will enjoy this look back at the models from FROG. (Note: Some of the models have been customized and enhanced with after market parts and decals.)
